Of all the items of catering provided in Holding, cups are the most fundamental.
Agreed - a hot meal is up there. I witnessed a near riot [well as close as one gets when the crowd is chock full of lovely, polite middle-aged, middle-class southerners] when a night shoot caterer ran out of all options during the Pinewood filming of a allegedly fantastic super hero movie last year. The tutting was deafening.
But without cups, there'd be no caffeine, and without caffeine, there'd be no attention, no wakefulness, no stamina.
So here's a conundrum I've struggled with since I started SA work.
Often, there is a wide array of flavoured infusions made available to the Crowd - English breakfast, Earl Grey, lemon & ginger, mint, camomile - you get the drift.
For coffee drinkers, there's just sodding Nescafe.
It was crap in the 1970s, and it's still crap 50 years later. It can't be beyond the wit or pockets of Production to source better quality coffee for us, surely?
