New College,
Oxford.
Tuesday 16th July 2024
A quick sketch of yesterday's very salubrious crowd holding - not your usual big marquee or pop-up in the middle of a field.
This one was a beautiful, barrel vaulted, chandelier-lit 18th century room.
Thanks to all on the Crowd AD team & the brilliant caterers for a great day's filming. SAs were very well looked after.
Actual conversation with a fellow SA...
"What's this place called, then?"
"New College."
"Yeah, but what's it really called?"
"Errr.... New College."
"Nah, it's not new though, is it? Look at it - this wall is really old."
"Yep - it is old - but it was new when it was built!"
"Nah - how can it be new when it was built - this stone's got to be at least 40 years old."
"Ahhhh... [consults Google] the college was founded in 1379 - this building is over 600 years old."
"What?? Why did they call it "New" then?"
