About a year ago, I encountered SA @markewart19 in Crowd Holding on some long forgotten shoot. He was resplendent in a scarlet Mess tunic, and looked the very model of a modern Major-General.
I considered painting this in oils - might still - but wanted to see how a fairly quick [for me] pencil sketch would go. Well enough to be posted on here, it turns out! Took about 2 hours to knock up. Hope it provides Mark a modicum of justice.
Using coloured pencils raises the jeopardy factor. Portraits are tricky enough at the best of times but because coloured pencil marks cannot be erased, the risk of disaster increases. One misplaced line can ruin an image.
Drawn using Faber and Castell Polychromos pencils #131 Coral and #142 Madder [pink and red].
