A grand Crowd Holding area. Definitely not a tent, although until the heaters kicked in, it felt as cold as one.
This room is in the Western outer wing - built in 1856 - a Victorian addition to the Georgian quadrangle of 1776.
Somerset House has been used for many purposes - not just housing cold, hungry extras. Since 1989, it has been the home of the Courtauld Institute of Art. Until 2013, it served as the HQ of HM Inland Revenue.
